Each warp yarn passes over/under each weft yarn. Most stable, lowest drape. Good for flat laminates and electrical applications.
2×2 Twill Weave
Each yarn passes over 2 then under 2. Improved drape over plain weave. Excellent balance of stability and formability.
4-Harness Satin (4HS)
One yarn over 3 others. Improved drape and smooth surface. Widely used for complex curved structures.

Ultra High Performance Glass Products

HT fabrics are engineered to match widely used aerospace E-glass and 3K carbon fabric styles, offering comparable weight, weave, flexibility, and handling characteristics. Fabrics such as 6781HT and 66281HT provide enhanced impact resistance and tensile strength compared with standard S-2 Glass® fiber, while offering a cost advantage over carbon. Their organic sizing eliminates the heat-cleaning process required for traditional starch-oil-sized fabrics, helping preserve fiber strength. HT fabrics are compatible with a broad range of high-temperature resin systems, including Epoxy, BMI, Phenolic, Cyanate Ester, Thermoplastics, Polyamide, Polyimide, PEI, PEEK, PAI, LCP, and other advanced composite matrices.

Hexcel Primetex® Lightweight Gap-Free Fabrics

PrimeTex® is a carbon fiber weaving technology in which the fibers are spread in both the warp and weft directions to produce a uniform weave and gap-free finish. The spreading process increases the closure factor in the fabric by 5-8% compared to conventional weaving processes (depending on the carbon tow and FAW). Laminates made with PrimeTex® have reduced porosity, resulting in higher mechanical performance.

When used in sandwich structures the thin PrimeTex® skins are highly resistant to water ingress. PrimeTex® Very Light Weight 98 g/m² is the lightest 3K gap-free fabric ever produced, permitting the cost-effective use of very light plies in composite lay-ups. PrimeTex® Very Light Weight is also 12% thinner than conventional 1K carbon fabrics, resulting in lighter structures making it ideal for surface plies, sandwich construction, structural parts or any other composite components requiring extreme lightness. 

Hexcel Launches New 1K Reinforcement Fabric for Lightweight Composite Applications

Hexcel has expanded its HexForce® portfolio with new 1K woven reinforcement fabrics designed for demanding composite applications. Offering areal weights as low as 60 GSM, the fabrics maintain the mechanical performance required across multiple industries. Vertically integrated fiber and fabric production enables Hexcel to deliver cost-effective, domestically sourced materials. The 1K fabrics are suitable for golf shafts, hockey sticks, automotive components, aerospace, defense, Advanced Air Mobility platforms, and space applications. Produced to stringent aerospace standards, the new range complements Hexcel’s existing 3K, 6K, 12K, and 24K options, giving customers greater flexibility across diverse applications, performance requirements, and global markets worldwide.

Pure fused silica (quartz) woven fabric — the premier reinforcement for aerospace radomes where RF transparency, dimensional stability, and structural integrity must coexist. Quartz fiber offers an extremely low dielectric constant (ε ≈ 3.78) and near-zero dielectric loss tangent — virtually invisible to radar and microwave frequencies, outperforming both E-glass and S-2 Glass®. An exceptionally low CTE of 0.54 × 10⁻⁶/°C ensures dimensional stability through the extreme thermal cycling of aerospace and space service. Capable of continuous service to 1050°C (1920°F). Available in plain, twill, and satin weave styles; custom preform shapes for structural radome shells available on request from Hexcel Specialty Reinforcements.

3M™ Nextel™ Ceramic Fabric 312 — Thermal & Fire Barrier
Woven fabric from Nextel 312 continuous aluminoborosilicate ceramic fiber — the standard aerospace ceramic textile for flame barriers, thermal shielding, and burn-through protection. Continuous use temperature to 1200°C (2192°F). Flexible and lightweight even after prolonged high-temperature exposure, unlike glass or quartz which become brittle. Used for engine firewalls, aircraft thermal blankets, wiring harness insulation, gaskets, seals, and spacecraft micrometeorite debris shields. Resistant to thermal shock, chemical attack, and dimensional change at operating temperature.
